Tips For Cleaning Electronics
Did you know that dust can actually ruin your electronics? Over time dust can accumulate so much that it can block the fan on your electronic product and harm it. The dust can even prevent it from working efficiently and in the worst case scenario even ruin the product.
Here are some easy tips to help keep your electronics dust free and clean:
Always unplug your electronics before cleaning them. This is especially important if you will be using a liquid based cleaner. Always read the manufacturers instructions for recommended ways to clean the product. You would be surprised at some of the recommendations, such as a common recommendation not to use certain kinds of cloths or rags which could scratch some products. Make sure to read your product’s manual. Avoid using paper towels to clean electronics in that the towel could scratch the screen. Instead, use any of the following products for dusting: Cloths (old undershirts and t-shirts make some of the best cloth rags!), or electrostatic duster products. Spray the dusting cloth with cleaner instead of spraying the computer, T.V. etc. This is a safer method and even works more efficiently than spraying the product itself. Baby wipes work great for smaller electronics like compact DVD players, MP3 players, small stereos and more. Simply wipe down your electronics with the baby wipes a few times a month or whenever needed. Cotton swabs are a great tool for cleaning small, hard to reach places on electronics. Simply dip the swab in isopropyl alcohol and wipe away any dirt. Using cotton swabs such as q-tips is a great way to clean keyboards or other push button devices.
